Gabriel Martinelli was named player of the match after he helped inspire our second-half comeback against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Brazilian also extended his incredible record of never losing a game in which he has scored, after he sparked our fightback with a well-taken 47th-minute header.
Itโs now 45 matches and counting in which Gabi has netted and weโve avoided defeat, after he grabbed our first in an eventual 2-2 draw with the champions.
โI'll try to score every single game from now on!โ he smiled after the game. โI mean, it's really good to have these stats. I just try to do my best for the team.โ
The goal was also his fourth at Anfield, and sixth overall against Liverpool.
โIt's really good to play against them,โ he added. โIt's really hard as well. I always try to do my best, not just against them, against every team, but against them, I think I've got a bit more lucky, and it's an open game as well.
โIt's a game I like to play, going in behind and threatening their last line. I think it was a great game today. But as I said, we could have done better in the first half, but the boys did a great effort out there.
โOf course, we wanted to win the game. We came here with the mentality to win it.
โAt half-time, we talked and we knew that we could do better, and this is what we did. You could see in the beginning of the second half, we scored and then we went for it.
โIt was hard in the end with one [player] less, but we tried our best and we gave everything out there.โ
Our forward added that our performance against this seasonโs champions can also inspire us to come back stronger next season.
โWe saw what we can do. What we did against them in the second half was amazing. The effort and everything we did was great. As I said, we wanted to win the game, but in the end, it was not that bad. We just take the positive things and go for the next season to try to improve and win trophies.โ
