Kieran Gibbs says patience was key in Arsenal’s win at Loftus Road.
The Gunners struggled to break down Queens Park Rangers in the first half, but Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez scored after the hour mark to secure the win.
Arsene Wenger's side had taken first-half leads in their previous five Premier League, but Gibbs says they required a different approach on Wednesday night.
"We have players who can score anytime so we just have to keep a good balance in the team and wait for our opportunity"
“We know that it’s always difficult when you come to this place,” the defender said. “It was about keeping focused. We had a lot to deal with defensively tonight and I feel the team responded well to that.
“We just waited for our opportunity and we took it. We’ve scored lots of our goals this season early on and it’s just whether we can hold on later in games and score.
“We have to remember that we don’t have to win the game in the first half, we know we have players who can score anytime so we just have to keep a good balance in the team and wait for our opportunity.
“It’s important for many reasons because we want to finish as high as possible in the league and we want to respond for the fans and people of the club. We know we’re a good team so we want to show that week in, week out.”
