Jack Wilshere has been suspended for two matches by an Independent Regulatory Commission acting on behalf of The Football Association.
Wilshere was charged by The FA with making an offensive and/or insulting and/or abusive gesture during the Premier League match at Manchester City on Saturday, December 14.
The incident was not seen by match officials but was caught on video. While admitting the charge, Wilshere and the Club claimed a two-game suspension was inconsistent with past FA precedents for similar offences.
Wilshere will miss the forthcoming Premier League matches at home to Chelsea on Monday, December 23 and at West Ham United on Thursday, December 26.
He will be available again for the Premier League trip to Newcastle United on Sunday, December 29.
