The contenders for our men's Player of the Month award

It’s time to decide who should be our men’s Player of the Month for April, and there are plenty of contenders after a superb few weeks for Mikel Arteta’s side.

We progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League in style with two unforgettable displays against Real Madrid, won in dramatic fashion against Fulham and recorded a heavy win against Ipswich Town during a busy eight-game month.

We’ve whittled the prospects down to four contenders for you to select from:

Jakub Kiwior

When Gabriel suffered a season-ending hamstring injury against Fulham on April 1, Jakub slotted straight into the heart of our defence and put in some outstanding displays alongside William Saliba to help us advance in the Champions League.

We remained unbeaten in the seven matches he appeared in before facing PSG on Tuesday, and the Pole helped us to clean sheets in the famous 3-0 success against Real Madrid and a convincing win against Ipswich, as well as netted his first goal of the season thanks to an excellent header against Crystal Palace.

Gabriel Martinelli

Gabi’s crowning moment of April was his last-minute winner against Real Madrid which secured a dramatic victory at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, which he deemed as his best moment in an Arsenal shirt.

That was one of two goals for the winger last month, as he also netted against Ipswich Town - his 50th for the club - plus provided the assist for another of April’s highlights when his excellent flick set up Bukayo Saka’s comeback goal against Fulham.

Declan Rice

However when discussing some of the most iconic moments of not just our month, but our season, Declan’s two incredible free-kicks against Real Madrid will be right up there. They were the first successful dead-ball strikes of his career in 339 games, as well as his first ever brace, and will live long in the memory.

As well as starting all eight matches, the England man also picked up a pair of assists during the month, setting up Thomas Partey against Brentford as well as Leandro Trossard at Ipswich, taking his tally to 17 goal involvements for the campaign.

Leandro Trossard

The Belgian winger was back amongst the goals this month, with no-one scoring more often than the four times he found the net. His rich vein of form began when he coolly slotted home at Everton, before he bagged his first Gunners brace at Portman Road during our 4-0 success.

He followed that up with another goal during our 2-2 draw against Palace, while his appearance against PSG at the end of the month was his 51st for us this campaign - none of his teammates have featured in more matches for us.
