Celebrating our women’s and girls’ programmes

Arsenal in the Community Women’s and Girls’ programmes

As we celebrate International Women’s Month this March, we want to shine a light on the dedicated women’s and girls’ programmes we run at Arsenal in the Community – and how women and girls can get involved.

EDUCATION

Girls Double Club

This unique programme, funded by the Premier League and PFA, mirrors the two halves of a football match, combining 45 minutes of classroom education with 45 minutes of football coaching. It encourages physical activity, teamwork and personal growth, and is open to girls aged eight to 11.

To learn more, contact Jack Ferguson or Henry Milton.

SOCIAL INCLUSION

Mental Health Support

We’ve partnered with Brandon Centre to provide counselling and psychotherapy for 16 to 25-year-olds involved in Arsenal in the Community programmes.

Disability & Inclusive Football

•Amputee Football: Open to players with upper, lower, or multiple limb amputations (mixed sessions).

•Mixed Disability Football: Weekly sessions for adults with learning disabilities.

•Premier League Girls Kicks: Inspiring young people aged eight to 18 through football. We offer girls-only sessions across Islington, Hackney, and Camden.
To sign up, contact Jack Ironside or Bruk Abdu.

SPORT & HEALTH PROGRAMMES

PLPFA Football Plus Girls (ages six to 16)

Our regular beginners’ football sessions for girls and team-based training and competition are delivered as part of our Premier League and PFA-supported Football Plus programme. The programme raises awareness of social and EDI issues alongside the provision of opportunities to play and compete. Sessions take place at The Arsenal Hub and across Islington.

Beginners’ Women’s and Non-Binary Football

Delivered as part of our Premier League Fans Fund programme Shape Up Sisters, these sessions help participants aged 18-plus to learn, develop and grow in football.

For Football Plus and Beginner’s Women and Non-Binary football sessions, contact Billie Graham.

PLPFA HEALTH

•Parkinson’s Walking Football: Fun and safe sessions delivered in partnership with Parkinson’s UK (mixed session).

•Women’s Walking Football: A modified, lower-impact version of the game for women aged 40-plus or for those with limiting health conditions.

•Strength & Balance: A chair-based exercise programme designed for over-55s and those with movement-limiting conditions such as COPD or arthritis. These sessions are ideal for anyone looking to improve strength and independence.

•Bowls: We run eight short mat bowls sessions weekly in community centres and at The Arsenal Hub. They’re a great way to stay active and social! For adults aged 55-plus.
