Tufnell Park’s Primary Stars

Arsenal in the Community Primary Stars

Last month Arsenal in the Community hosted its annual Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournaments, part of a national competition designed to give primary school children the opportunity to experience competitive football in a fun, inclusive and inspiring environment.

Schools from across the country compete in local qualifying rounds, with the winners earning the chance to represent their club at the national finals, which are held at a Premier League stadium.

The tournament is part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, which uses football to inspire young people both on and off the pitch.

The event featured two competitions: the Under-11 Mixed Tournament and the Under-11 Girls-Only Tournament. Both teams from Tufnell Park fought off stiff competition to secure their places in the national finals, which take place at Molineux Stadium in June.

Taking place alongside the matches at both tournaments were practical workshops and challenges designed by Arsenal in the Community coaches. The workshops were based on the Premier League Primary Stars programme values, reinforcing important lessons in teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.

“This year’s tournament was one of the best yet, with over 450 children taking part across our two local qualifying events,” said James Warnock, Football Development Manager at Arsenal in the Community. “The standard of football continues to improve every year, and just as impressive was the level of respect and sportsmanship on display. We’re looking forward to seeing how Tufnell Park perform on the national stage at Wolves!”

The Under-11 Girls were presented with their medals before the north London derby at Emirates Stadium, while the Mixed team are here today to receive their medals before kick-off.
