U21s report: Arsenal 4-1 Newcastle United

ozzy

Our Under-21s made it back-to-back wins in Premier League 2 with a commanding 4-1 triumph over Newcastle United at Meadow Park.

Goals from Seb Ferdinand, Khayon Edwards, Osman Kamara, and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand sealed an emphatic victory.

What Happened

We opened the scoring after 16 minutes when Michal Rosiak delivered a pinpoint cross into the area, causing havoc in the Newcastle defence, and Ferdinand was on hand to convert.

Just 10 minutes later, our lead was doubled as Edwards reacted quickest to tap in the rebound after Salah’s initial effort was parried.

We continued to dominate, playing with confidence, and Kamara nearly added a spectacular third. After a clever shimmy to beat his full-back, his shot rattled the post.

However, Kamara was not to be denied before the break. After excellent work from Salah, he picked his spot beautifully to find the corner and make it 3-0 at half-time.

The start of the second half saw a more controlled approach, with limited chances in the opening 15 minutes. Marli Salmon produced a vital goal-line clearance from a Newcastle corner to maintain our lead.

The visitors did pull one back when Ciaran Thompson won a penalty, and Jay Turner-Cooke converted from the spot.

However, we responded in style just two minutes later as Salah capped off a brilliant display with a stunning free-kick, curling it into the top corner to put the result beyond doubt.

What It Means

This third consecutive home win moves us to 25 points after 15 games, keeping momentum high as we continue our strong league campaign.
