Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the FA Women's Premier League to four points on Saturday with victory over Liverpool at Boreham Wood FC.
A Lianne Sanderson brace sandwiched a solitary Chantelle Parry strike to ensure the Gunners led at the break, but they were by no means home and hosed.
England international Rachel Yankey registered a third early in the second half, creating the breathing space that Vic Akers' side merited. The two-goal deficit deflated Liverpool and Julie Fleeting bagged two more in the closing stages. Fay McCoy snatched a second for the visitors but it proved to be no more than a consolation.
