Riccardo Calafirori’s rocket against Manchester City is a contender for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for September.
The Italian defender marked his first start for us in sensational style, as he netted a wondergoal to pull us level at the home of the reigning champions and help us secure a battling 2-2 draw to maintain our unbeaten start.
Riccardo’s magical moment came in the 22nd minute at the Etihad Stadium. Thomas Partey played a quickly-taken free-kick down the left channel for Gabriel Martinelli to race onto, and he edged into the area before pulling the ball back to the Italian defender.
Without hesitation, he whipped a first-time left-footed effort towards goal, and watched it sail out of the reach of Ederson and whistle into the top corner, sending the travelling Gooners wild.
Riccardo’s netbuster is one of eight up available for selection, including Jhon Duran’s long-ranger for Aston Villa against Everton, Harvey’s Barnes’ winner in the game between Newcastle United and Wolves, and Brian Mbeumo’s first-minute volley for Brentford at Tottenham.
Liverpool's Darwin Nunez is also a contender for his whipped strike against Bournemouth, while Cole Palmer’s free-kick for Chelsea against Brighton, James Justin’s superb volley for Leicester City against us last weekend and Dwight McNeil’s strike from distance against Crystal Palace round off the selections.
You can select Riccardo’s goal and see all the other strikes now, with voting closing at midday on Monday, October 7.
