Mariona Caldentey and Frida Maanum have both been nominated for the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award for February.
Caldentey continued her rich vein of form by getting off to a flying start with the opening goal in the first minute of our 4-3 win away to Manchester City at the beginning of the month. She also provided an assist for our third goal of that game, scored by Maanum.
After scoring the equalising penalty in our 2-1 Subway Women’s League Cup semi-final defeat to Gareth Taylor’s side, Caldentey notched her third of the month in our 5-0 WSL win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Maanum scored the aforementioned third goal of our 4-3 win at City as well as the third goal of our north London derby success.
Those two WSL wins left us third in the division with 30 points from 14 games going into the February international break.
Caldentey and Maanum are up against Mary Fowler (Manchester City), Kelly Gago (Everton), Toni Payne (Everton) and Elisabeth Terland (Manchester United) for the award.
