As part of our Ramadan celebrations, we brought our Arsenal family together last week for a special evening of breaking fast.
The Iftar – the meal at which Muslims break their fast each day during Ramadan – was attended by our people, supporters and members of our local community.
During the gathering, our staff member Muna Less, spoke about the deep personal significance of Ramadan, and the incredible contributions of Muslim figures throughout history, many of whom are lesser known but have played a major role in shaping the world we know today.
We were honoured to welcome Mohammed Kozbar, Chairman of Finsbury Park Mosque, who spoke about the mosque’s role in our community, followed by a beautiful adhan - an Islamic call to prayer - delivered by Sadiq Yusuf, Youth Officer at Finsbury Park Mosque.
We also welcomed members of our EDI and Sustainability supporter forum to enjoy the celebrations.
The event was organised by our internal H.E.R.O Network (heritage, ethnicity, religion, open to all) which meets once a month to promote racial, ethnic, religious and cultural diversity at Arsenal and to ensure there are equal opportunities for people of all backgrounds.
To close the evening, we enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Arsenal local, Juss Jerk, bringing in flavours from the local Caribbean community and reinforcing the spirit of togetherness in N5.
