Gabriel to reach 200 Arsenal appearances at Girona

Gabriel in action against Sporting CP

Having been named in our starting line-up for tonight's Champions League game at Girona, Gabriel will reach 200 appearances for the club when he steps out onto the field at the Estadio Montilivi.

The Brazilian centre-back made his Gunners bow in September 2020 against Fulham not long after signing from Lille, and he would mark the occasion with a debut goal - one of 20 he has netted in red and white.

Big Gabi’s double century consists of 153 Premier League games, plus another 29 in Europe, split between 17 in the Champions League (including tonight) and 13 in the Europa League. He has played 11 times in the League Cup, while five more appearances have come in the FA Cup. He also featured in our 2023 Community Shield success.

190 of those games have been as a starter, while as well as his impressive one-in-10 goal ratio, he has also chipped with in a couple of assists.

Gabi is the 117th player to hit the 200 mark for the club, and the third Brazilian. Gilberto Silva was the first to do so who went on to make 244 in total, while club and country teammate Gabriel Martinelli recently achieved the same feat earlier in the month against Brighton & Hove Albion.
