Internationals: Agyemang scores on England debut

Michelle Agyemang celebrates scoring for England

Michelle Agyemang made a dream senior debut for the Lionesses, scoring with her very first touch just 41 seconds after coming off the substitutes' bench.

Our 19-year-old striker, currently playing on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, received a beautiful crossfield pass from captain Leah Williamson, controlled the ball, and in one swift movement, volleyed into the roof of the net.

Agyemang wasn't the only Gunner on the scoresheet against Belgium, with Beth Mead also scoring from the spot in the 35th minute after a shaky start from England. However, the Lionesses ultimately lost 3-2.

Mariona Caldentey was instrumental in Spain's 7-1 drumming of Portugal, providing three assists and one goal. Our midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Spain consolidated top spot of their Nations League group.

Victoria Pelova earned her first start for the Netherlands after recovering from an ACL injury, with the Dutch recording another 3-1 win over Austria. On the other side of the pitch, Manuela Zinsberger and Laura Wienroither both played 90 minutes for Austria, whilst Daphne van Domselaar returned to Arsenal after sustaining an injury.

Lia Walti captained Switzerland to a 3-3 draw with Iceland in Reykjavik, whilst Stina Blackstenius played 90 minutes of Sweden's 1-1 draw with Wales. Amanda Ilestedt came on as a late substitute for her first international appearance since giving birth last year.

Elsewhere in Nations League action, Frida Maanum played the full game as Norway fell 2-0 to France.

The Matildas scored back-to-back victories over South Korea, with Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord featuring in both fixtures.

Emily Fox played for 88 minutes in the US Women's National Team's 2-0 win over Brazil on Saturday, with goals from Trinity Rodman and Lindsey Heaps. The Brazilians came out on top in round two, however, winning 2-1 in San Jose on April 9. Fox did not feature at all in that fixture.

England U19s secured qualification for this summer's U19 Euros with three wins from three in April. Michelle Agyemang, Vivienne Lia and Jessie Gale were all on the scoresheet in a 5-1 victory over Austria on Saturday, before the Young Lionesses cruised to victory once more with a 10-0 win over Ukraine. Gale bagged her third goal in three games and even centre-back Katie Reid got in on the goal-scoring action, hitting home from close range.

Freya Godfrey and Teyah Goldie were both in action for England's U23s in their comeback win against Belgium on Sunday, with Godfrey providing a vital assist. Rosa Kafaji, meanwhile, featured for almost an hour as Sweden's U23s defeated Spain on penalties.
