Mikel Arteta shared fitness updates on Bukayo Saka and Ben White in his pre-Leicester City press conference on Friday.
Bukayo was spotted performing gym work in Dubai during our mid-season camp earlier this week, and when asked whether he’s tempted to rush Bukayo back following the news that Kai Havertz has been ruled out for the rest of the season, Mikel said he’s still in an early stage of recovery after the injury he picked up at Crystal Palace in December.
“I don’t know, we have a long-term injury, so what is faster? In a 10-day injury, three days is a lot because it’s 30%, but in three months, a week is probably not that much,” Mikel said.
“It's too early, he’s in an early stage of the rehab, so when we get a little bit closer and he starts to do more demanding stuff and has more load, we will see where he is. There’s no setback, he’s fine.”
However there was better news when it came to Ben, who has been ruled out with a knee injury since November, Mikel said he’s on the right track ahead of Saturday's trip to King Power Stadium.
“Yes, Ben has been training more regularly now so we still have to manage his load a lot but he’s going to be available [for Leicester City],” he explained.
