Leah Williamson officially became our record appearance holder in Women's Super League history when she took to the field against Everton tonight.
The 27-year-old England captain, who has been at the club since the age of eight, made her first-team debut way back in 2014, and tonight will be making her 158th appearance in the WSL. She has started 146 of those 158 matches, and the tally includes her seven matches in the Spring Series, that bridged the gap between the WSL moving from a summer to a winter league in 2017.
Leah surpasses the previous club record held by Jordan Nobbs, and is also just ahead of current teammates Kim Little, Katie McCabe and Beth Mead who complete the top five.
Nobbs, now at Aston Villa, still leads the way overall in the WSL, with 205 appearances.
Leah has made 259 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals. The breakdown of her appearances is: Super League 157, FA Cup 33, League Cup 42 and Europe 27.
Leah’s record is even more impressive considering she was ruled out of action for much of last season with an ACL injury.
Congratulations Leah, and here’s to many more!
