Last Wednesday Myles Lewis-Skelly played the full 90 minutes against PSV Eindhoven as we booked our place in the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Then on Friday he received his first call up to the England senior squad, and the 18 year old capped an incredible few days by playing the full match as we beat Chelsea 1-0 at Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
“It's all I can ask for really,” a delighted Myles said at the final whistle. “I’m just so grateful to the team for entrusting me and the boss entrusting me, and I can repay them and be the best version of myself.
“I’m buzzing, you know,” he said about being called up by England. “Honesty I was elated, just shouting around my house!
“Obviously I'm excited for what's coming up, but you’ve always got to stay locked in on the present and not get too attached to the feeling that’s coming later down the line.”
Uppermost in Myles’ thoughts on Sunday though was another excellent win over our London rivals at Emirates Stadium.
“Yeah, definitely, it was a hard-fought win. We had to face a low block a lot in this game, but as a team we can suffer together. Sometimes you’ve got to suffer and we did that well today, we were comfortable.
“We knew from the jump that we had to win our battles and win our duels. It's a given, especially in a derby like this.”
