Lia Walti has been named Switzerland Women’s national team Player of the Year for 2023.
Our steadfast number 13 has shown the same composure, skill and leadership in her performances for Switzerland as she has for the Gunners over the years. After Sunday’s FA Cup win over Watford, where she scored her first goal of the 23/24 campaign, Walti travelled to Bern to accept the award.
Last summer, the Swiss skipper led her country to the knockout stages of the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the very first time in their history.
This is not the first time Walti has received the award. She was also named Swiss national player of the year in 2021.
