Mikel on PSG: “We want to do something special"

Mikel Arteta in training

Our 3-0 win at home to Real Madrid just under three weeks ago was one of the greatest nights of the lives of many an Arsenal supporter.

An outstanding atmosphere helped us to one of our most unforgettable victories in history and, with PSG the visitors for Tuesday’s first leg of the Champions League semi-final, Mikel Arteta is demanding even more magical moments at our home.

“Tomorrow more, I told them and I'm not exaggerating when I said, guys, bring your boots, bring your shorts, bring your t-shirts and let's play every ball together,” our manager reiterated in his pre-match press conference on Monday.

“We want to do something special, that place has to be something special, something that we haven't seen. And I really hope that everybody that comes tomorrow to the Emirates and everybody that is watching and following us, brings that energy with them.”

Asked if the connection between the club and the supporters is the best it has been since Mikel first joined Arsenal as a player, he said it was and suggested that there are even more levels to go to.

“Yes, I think since I experienced and I was part of this as a player, 100%, and hopefully it will be much better because it's very improvable still. Building your own story and having experiences that we have lately together, I think it's going to make that relationship and that connection even stronger.

“Tomorrow we have a massive opportunity as well, as a club, as supporters, to demonstrate who we are and how far we still want to get together.

“It’s an incredible opportunity. We are here to make people happy, to create history and we are very close. Now we have to take the opportunity and make it happen.”
