Arteta kept his cool to score a retaken penalty midway through the second half and he was delighted with the team’s performance.

“It was a really tough game and a really nice game to watch,” he said. “Both teams wanted to attack with different styles and we played a very good Everton side.
“When we played against them here two or three months ago they made it really hard on us [but] I think today we played really well and deserved to win.
“[The FA Cup] is a great opportunity - it's what we really wanted from the start and we faced top teams in every round and deserve to be where we are.

Arteta insisted it was just a case of holding his nerve for his penalty against his former club.
“You just bring your concentration level back [for the retake], thinking about what the keeper is going to try to do and just put it in the net,” he said.
“I knew I was going to go to the other side because the keeper went that side on the first one and I managed to put it a bit higher and score.”
