Jack Wilshere has warned Arsenal to keep a close eye on Wayne Rooney after the forward rediscovered his goalscoring form for England.
Rooney had only netted four times in nine appearances for club and country this season until his brace against Scotland took him to within three goals of England’s leading scorer, Sir Bobby Charlton.
"It’s a big game for us even if it wasn’t against Manchester United because we’ve dropped points. We need to get back to winning ways"
“He’s looking sharp,” Wilshere said. “The main thing that I always notice about Rooney is his love for the game. He’s still got that. In the last 18 months he’s probably got that even more.
“You can see that he really loves the game, he enjoys being out there and he’s got his goalscoring form back, so we’ll have to watch out for him on Saturday.
“Last season United struggled but this time round they seem to have come back really strong. They’ve bought really well, they’ve got great quality in the squad, so they’ll get back to that quality again.
“The Manchester United games are always special. When I was growing up they were always the biggest games of the season and that’s still the case. Both teams have great players, so it’ll be a good match.
“It’s a big game for us even if it wasn’t against Manchester United because we’ve dropped points in the past few weeks. We need to get back to winning ways.”
