Gilberto was officially inaugurated into the Arsenal ‘100 Club’ at Tuesday’s Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb.

After a presentation in the Directors’ Box with Arsène Wenger and Chairman Sir Chips Keswick, he was welcomed pitchside by supporters.

Gilberto was a key member of the 2003/04 side who went 49 games unbeaten, and an FA Cup winner with Arsenal in 2003 and 2005. He made a total of 244 appearances for the club.

The 100 Club recognises players who have made more than 100 league appearances for the Gunners, once their playing careers have come to an end.

Gilberto joins a host of ‘Invincibles’ teammates in the club including Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires, and club legends such as Tony Adams, Liam Brady and Bob Wilson.

A 2002 World Cup winner with Brazil, Gilberto said: “I am honoured to be part of the 100 Club, alongside so many great players form the past. My years with Arsenal were some of the most special of my career, and it is a privilege to continue to be a part of the club today.”
