Wojciech Szczesny hailed Arsenal's defensive performance after their 2-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday.
Before kick-off, questions were raised about whether the Gunners could quell in-form strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
But the Polish goalkeeper believes a win and a clean-sheet was the best possible answer they could provide.
"You can see with the quality of our performance that we're up for it"
"[Suarez and Sturridge] are fantastic players," said Szczesny. "They are both among the best strikers in the Premier League, it's always hard to play against them but we did that with the clean-sheet. They didn't create a lot of chances so, credit to our defence, it was a very good defensive performance from us.
"We knew it was a very important game for us, we knew that winning this game would mean a lot and create a gap in the table at the top and I'm delighted with the result and the way we played. You have to say we deserved the win so I'm very happy."
Goals from Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey put Arsenal five points clear at the top of the Premier League and the 23-year-old wants thinks the Gunners are ready to fight for the title.
"I think if you look at the table and the consistency of our performances, recently you can see that we want to challenge for the title this year.
"You can see with the quality of our performance that we're up for it."
