Nwaneri: I can bring goals and assists to the team

Ethan Nwaneri vs Ipswich Town

Ethan Nwaneri notched up his ninth goal of the campaign against Ipswich Town in an outstanding breakthrough season, and our bright star admits he's thrilled with his contribution so far.

The teenager rounded off the scoring at Portman Road, firing his effort home late in the second half with the aid of a deflection.

The effort was Ethan's fourth Premier League strike, bringing his total goal contributions to 11 across all competitions, and our attacker revealed he is overjoyed by his output in 2024/25.

"I'm very happy with the amount of goals I've scored this season," Ethan said after the 4-0 win. "I think that's what I can bring to the team. I can bring goals and assists, I've been able to display that, so I'm happy."

Leandro Trossard opened the scoring before Gabriel Martinelli notched his 50th goal for us to make it 2-0 - and our hand was strengthened further when Leif Davis was shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh.

We continued to attack in the second half as Trossard and then Nwaneri found the net, and Ethan admits manager Mikel Arteta encouraged us to keep pushing for more in the second period.

He said: "He just said to carry on how we were playing because we were dominating in the first half, we were playing so well. He just wanted us to not take our foot off the gas and just keep going."

Ethan, alongside Myles Lewis-Skelly, have been success stories of our Hale End academy this campaign and there was more cause for celebration as fellow academy product Nathan Butler-Oyedeji came off the bench for his Premier League debut.

Nwaneri was proud of his teammate and believes there's plenty to come from the young forward.

"Nathan's a top, top player," he said. "He's so sharp, his finishing is so good, so he deserves it. I'm so happy to see him out there on the pitch. It's someone I've played with for the last few years in the academy, so it was so good to see him out there."
