Pick our women's Player of the Month for October

POTM: Lia Walti, Emily Fox, Mariona Caldentey and Caitlin Foord

Voting is now open to decide our women's Player of the Month for October.

There are four candidates to choose between, but who was your standout performer? Read on to hear about our nominees and how to vote.

MARIONA CALDENTEY

Mariona Caldentey scoring a penalty against West Ham

With three goals to her name in October, summer signing Mariona Caldentey is our top scorer this month. Her fine volley in Munich initially gave us the lead against the German champions on a night to otherwise forget, before a masterful display at Emirates Stadium in the Champions League earned her a Player of the Match award.

In that fixture against Valerenga, Mariona scored our third of the night and provided a wonderful assist to Alessia Russo. She then capped off October with a fine penalty to open the scoring against West Ham United - her first goal in the Women's Super League.

cAITLIN FOORD

Caitlin Foord in action against West Ham

Caitlin's blistering start to the season has already seen her scoop September's Player of the Month trophy and she's only continued this form in October. The Australian winger added two more to her goal tally, bringing it up to six so far, with the pick of the bunch coming against Chelsea in a glorious solo effort.

With just Lucy Bronze for company on the byline, Caitlin outwitted the Chelsea right-back with quick footwork and curled the ball beautifully past Hannah Hampton from a near-impossible angle.

EMILY FOX

Emily Fox celebrates scoring against Valerenga

Renowned for her hard defensive work and wicked speed, Emily Fox took her turn to join the scoresheet this month. Her close-range finish after only two minutes played against Valerenga was her first goal for the club.

Elsewhere, she has been a near-constant presence on the pitch, playing full 90 minutes for four games out of five this month.

LIA WALTI

Lia Walti claps supporters

Our anchor in midfield, Lia Walti has been quietly and consistently brilliant in October. In protecting the backline, progressing the play and contributing in attack, the Swiss captain has put in a series of strong performances.

She also hit a milestone this month, making her 100th Women’s Super League appearance during our 2-0 win over West Ham.
