Our Gunners have returned from the international break for the final block of fixtures in the 2024/25 Barclays Women's Super League season.

LAST TIME AROUND

Frida Maanum was the difference-maker the last time we faced the Foxes back in September. The King Power fixture was at a stalemate until the 55th minute, where a high-pressing Alessia Russo capitalised on a defensive error and poached the ball in the Leicester box.

Our number 23 then sent a scooped pass to Maanum, who was patiently waiting in the six-yard box to tap home for the only goal of the game.

THE OPPOSITION

Leicester City's Janice Cayman celebrates

With four fixtures left and a seven-point cushion, Leicester City look to have done enough to remain in the Women's Super League for a fifth straight season.

Amadine Miquel, who joined the Foxes last summer from Reims, has led the side to wins against Everton, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brighton so far this campaign. Leicester have also managed to do what few clubs have done this year by taking points off league leaders Chelsea, with a 1-1 at the King Power back in December.

However, the Foxes have particularly struggled on the road, failing to pick up a victory in their last 14 away WSL fixtures.

Miquel's side come to Emirates Stadium off the back of a draw with Tottenham Hotspur and a win against Brighton & Hove Albion.

FACTS AND STATS

Beth Mead on the ball
  • We have won each of our seven Women's Super League fixtures against Leicester City by an aggregate score of 24-2. We have kept a clean sheet on all three home games against the Foxes
  • Leicester City have picked up four points from their last two WSL games, beating Brighton and drawing with Spurs. The Foxes haven’t gone three straight league games unbeaten since their opening three matches of the 2023-24 campaign
  • Our Gunners have won the last seven games at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions by an aggregate score of 26-1. Across our last four WSL matches in N5, we have alternated between 4-0 and 5-0 wins
  • In 2025, no WSL team have won more points (21) or scored more goals (29) than us. Our average of 3.6 goals per game across eight fixtures this calendar year is the second-best rate by a WSL team in a single year, behind Chelsea in 2017 (53 goals in 13 games – 4.1 average).
  • No side has recorded fewer points away from home this season than Leicester, who have not won in their last 14 games on the road. Only three teams have suffered longer winless away streaks in Women’s Super League history: Yeovil Town (20, 2017-2019), Reading (17, 2022-2023) and Birmingham City (15 – 2020-2022)
  • Of the 43 WSL players to record 20+ shots this season, Beth Mead has the highest conversion rate with 30%. Our number 9 has found the net ten times from her last 16 attempts in the league

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Slegers on Leicester: "[They] have a lot to play for, and it's going to be a challenge for us because I think the way they press and the player-for-player system at moments, we'll have to be really good on the ball to be able to beat that.

"They also have a little bit of threat up front as well that we have to manage during the game, but we look forward to it. We look forward to the challenge."

Miquel on us: “I think we always have a chance to do something special. I think [Slegers] has been doing very well. Since she took over, they are scoring more goals, and we know their qualification in the Champions League shows also they are really performing. Any team that wants to be able to compete needs to be in one of their best days, so that’s what we’ll try to do.

TEAM NEWS

Lotte Wubben-Moy in training

With Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly and Daphne van Domselaar all picking up knocks and cutting their international breaks short, head coach Renée Slegers confirmed that it was "touch and go" whether any of them would be available for the Leicester clash.

Laia Codina is still being managed, and in more positive news, Renée confirmed that Lotte Wubben-Moy was back training with the team and "really progressing".
