David Raya featured in Spain’s first match since becoming European champions, but they were held to a goalless draw against Serbia in their opening Nations League game.
David was between the posts after usual number one Unai Simon was ruled out through wrist surgery, winning his eighth cap for his country in the process, with potentially more to come over the next couple of months as the Athletic Bilbao keeper recovers.
The reigning Nations League holders couldn’t find a way past a stubborn home defence in Belgrade, and now head to Switzerland for a game on Sunday looking to be more clinical to get their first victory on the board.
Jakub Kiwior was involved in a topsy-turvy encounter against Scotland, that eventually ended with Poland winning 3-2 courtesy of a stoppage-time penalty from Nicola Zalewski.
The Poles found themselves 2-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Sebastian Szymanski and Robert Lewandowski, and withdrew Jakub at half-time. However the Scots drew level through new Napoli duo Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay before Grant Hanley brought down Zalewski late on, allowing him to snatch the points for Poland.
Jakub will play Croatia next on Sunday night, having won his 26th cap - all in his country's last 26 matches.
Thomas Partey’s Ghana got their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign off to the worst possible start as they lost 1-0 at home to Angola. Thomas played the full 90 minutes and skippered the side in Kumasi, but another late goal in injury time proved costly for the Black Stars.
Felicio Milson grabbed the all-important winner in the 93rd minute, which saw Ghana lose at the Baba Yara Stadium for the first time in 24 years. They will be hoping to bounce back against Niger on Monday.
