Renée Slegers is here to stay, as our interim head coach was officially confirmed in the permanent role.
For her first club interview as head coach, Renée sat down with a club legend Ian Wright to discuss her Arsenal journey so far.
"I feel good, I’m excited," said Renée. "It’s grown during my time here at Arsenal, seeing and getting even more insight into the club and the players and the staff. I just see all the potential."
"We want to win things with the team and that's also why I'm here because I believe we can with this team. There's a lot of work behind it and good performances as well because I understand what our football and the team mean to a lot of people. We really want to deliver something beautiful that's inspiring and that leads to trophies."
For Renée, consistency will be paramount as she transitions from the interim to full-time position.
"It’s going to be very important for me that nothing changes because I think what’s made us so strong is the collective ownership. So I won’t change, the girls shouldn’t change, no-one should change because we do things really well at the moment."
Wright was quick to point out the poignancy of Renée's first Emirates Stadium game in the official position. "It's an unbelievable first game at the Emirates for you: the north London Derby. I don't want to put the boss under pressure, but we can't lose to that club in any situation!"
"I understand! I know how much that game means for the girls, for the club and for the fans. So, I really look forward to it."
