Tomas Rosicky has announced his retirement from professional football.
The Czech playmaker established himself as a firm fans’ favourite during the decade he spent with us between 2006 and 2016. Tomas made 246 appearances and scored 28 goals for us, and helped us to win – and then retain - the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.
Tomas started and finished his career with Czech side Sparta Prague and, in a statement posted on their website, he said:
“After careful consideration I have realised I am no longer able to fully prepare my body for what the professional football requires. I would like to thank Sparta for raising me, for being the first step in my career in big clubs, and for allowing me to say goodbye at the place I love the most.”
Good luck in your retirement, Tomas. Thanks for the memories.
