Slegers on team performance in West Ham win

Renee Slegers was full of praise for our entire squad off the back of our 2-0 victory over West Ham.

Our interim head coach has guided us to two back-to-back wins this week, following a tough period on and off the pitch.

"I think it was very good of the team to come out like this and get the three points," said Renee after the match. "Especially if you see how the game goes, we had a hard time finding a solution in the first half, but then in the second half, we do. The players are very resilient and we have players coming on in the second half as well, who impact the game very positively, so very happy about the performance."

Following our first-half dominance, four changes were made on the hour mark to try and find an all-important goal against the Hammers. Substitute Rosa Kafaji bagged one of these goals, with Stina Blackstenius also earning the breakthrough penalty.

"We have only top-quality players in the squad, so we prepare and we see what players we need for every game. We had a thought about bringing on these players at some point in the game and today it was early. So, I’m very happy for them to make an impact."

"This is what we needed: to get the win last Wednesday and get the win today. I think big credit to the players again, I think the players have been reacting really well to a hard situation at the end of a very busy block as well. So, I think this- a couple of players were saying this in the huddle as well, that we have to pick this up when we come back in after the international break."
