Team news: Arteta's semi-final second leg side

The Arsenal players in a huddle before the game against Manchester City

Mikel Arteta has named the same side that beat Manchester City 5-1 on Sunday for our Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Newcastle United.

The boss has decided to stick with those 11 players who achieved one of our greatest-ever results in Premier League history for the game on Tyneside, as we look to overturn the 2-0 lead that the Magpies built up at Emirates Stadium four weeks ago.

Mikel has also chosen the same XI that started that game, meaning that Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz are in attack, while Thomas Partey, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard make up the midfield trio.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is at left-back alongside our usual centre-back partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba, with Jurrien Timber at right-back and David Raya between the posts.

Eddie Howe meanwhile has made two changes from the team that lost 2-1 to Fulham on Saturday.

Joelinton picked up an injury in that game and is out of the matchday squad, with Sven Botman coming into the side which could indicate a shift to a back five, while Kieran Trippier is preferred to Tino Livramento at right-back.

In terms of the team that started the first leg, Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar are included this time around with ex-Gunner Joe Willock on the bench, where he is joined by the returning Callum Wilson.
