U18s preview: Middlesbrough v Arsenal

Luis brown

Our under-18s are back in Premier League Cup action this weekend and we’ll be hoping to pick up where we left off after beating Leicester City 2-1 prior to the international break.

The game is an 11am kick-off at Rockliffe Park on Saturday.

Previously…

We went into the international break in high spirits courtesy of an eventful 2-1 win against Leicester at London Colney. Despite finishing the game with nine men, our Young Gunners came from behind thanks to goals from Michal Rosiak and Omari Benjamin.

As for our previous Premier League Cup outing, that came in early September with a 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United, Harrison Dudziak on the scoresheet that day.

As for Middlesbrough

In the northern division of the U18 Premier League, Middlesbrough have had a mostly positive start. Three wins, one draw and two defeats from six games puts them sixth in the table with 10 points.

After a chastening 4-0 opening day defeat to Manchester United, Boro drew 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest before winning 2-0 against Everton.

Their Premier League Cup campaign began with a 3-2 defeat at Derby County, followed by a 6-0 league loss at home to Manchester City. However, Boro have won their last two matches - 2-1 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers and 4-2 away to Leeds United.

With five goals in his last five games in all competitions, Ajay Matthews is the Boro player to look out for.
