U18s preview: Southampton v Arsenal

Under-18s preview for Southampton away in U18s Premier League

Adam Birchall’s under-18s will make the trip to the South Coast to take on Southampton in the Under-18s Premier League on Saturday, February 15. The match will take place at Staplewood Training Ground, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm (UK time).

Our under-18s have been in good form recently, winning their last five matches in all competitions.

The most recent of those wins was a thrilling 3 - 2 victory over West Bromwich Albion, where Louis Zecevic-John netted a stoppage time winner despite us being reduced to ten men.

The Opposition

Southampton are in fine form themselves, losing just two of their last nine.

The Saints are third in the Southern section of the under-18s Premier League with 24 points from 15 matches; we are eight points behind but have played four games less.

Last time out, Southampton underlined their strength by beating league leaders Aston Villa 4 - 2 away from home.

Victories over Swansea City, Fleetwood Town and Derby County have taken the Saints to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, a competition they have never won.

Southampton’s main threat is Nicholas Oyekunle; the striker has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the under-18s this season.
