A number of players impressed in our penalty shoot-out win over Chelsea.
Granit Xhaka produced a flawless performance in the centre of the park, pulling the strings from deep, breaking up the Blues’ attacks efficiently and setting up Sead Kolasinac’s late equaliser with a pinpoint free-kick.
Danny Welbeck had a typically industrious display, winning the ball high up the pitch and creating a number of dangerous chances.
And finally Kolasinac, introduced as an early substitute for Per Mertesacker, was a constant threat going forward and even headed home Xhaka’s free-kick to score his first goal for the club and take the game to penalties.
