Ethan Nwaneri scored the third and final goal of England’s 3-1 win over Spain in the UEFA U17 European Championship on Monday, sending the Young Lions through to the knockout stages.
Shim Mheuka opened the scoring for England in the sixth minute, but Spain responded by way of Adrian Baquerin.
Mikey Moore made it 2-1 to England with 17 minutes to go before Nwaneri got a third with five left on the clock. Placing the ball into the bottom corner after going one-on-one with the goalkeeper, it’s Nwaneri’s second goal in the competition.
England will face Italy in the quarter-final on Thursday, May 30 at 6.30pm.
Chido Martin-Obi is also in the quarters with Denmark, who meet Czechia at 3.30pm on Wednesday, May 29.
