Gabriel’s brilliant form throughout September has seen him nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.
The Brazilian defender is one of eight contenders for the prize, after netting two goals and keeping a clean sheet during a month where we remained unbeaten in our three league outings.
Big Gabi kicked September off by heading in the all-important goal to beat Tottenham Hotspur and clinch the north London derby day spoils, and a week later he followed that up by getting on the scoresheet again against Manchester City, as we ended two difficult away games with a four-point haul.
The centre-back then rounded off the month by helping us secure a 4-2 victory against Leicester City to maintain our unbeaten start to the campaign, during which time Gabi has played every minute and kept three clean sheets in our six matches so far.
The other contenders for the award are Chelsea’s Cole Palmer who scored five goals in four games, while Luis Diaz and Ollie Watkins are also options having scored four goals each for Liverpool and Aston Villa respectively, with Diaz’s teammate Ryan Gravenberch also given the nod.
Newcastle United winger Harvey Barnes, Dwight McNeil of Everton and Fulham marksman Raul Jimenez all netted three times to also get recognition.
Fan votes will be combined with the views of a panel of experts to determine the winner, and you can show your support for Gabi by voting for him now until midday on Monday, October 7.
