Arteta up for September's Manager of the Month

Mikel Arteta after our win against Tottenham

After maintaining our unbeaten start to the season, Mikel Arteta has been nominated for Premier League Manager of the Month for September.

The boss is one of five included on the divisional shortlist, and marks his second nod of the campaign already after steering us through some tricky fixtures.

Tough league trips to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City were sandwiched between a European trip to Atalanta, but we came out of them with four points courtesy of a third straight win at the home of our rivals, making Mikel the first Arsenal boss to achieve that since 1988, and a battling draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Another win was then recorded against Leicester City in dramatic fashion to leave us just a point off the top of the table as we entered October, with the month also seeing Mikel sign a new contract with the club.

Only two managers picked up more points than him during September, albeit playing a game more. Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca and Arne Slot of Liverpool enjoyed three wins from four with their new clubs, while Marco Silva and Unai Emery also claimed seven points or Fulham and Aston Villa respectively.

Supporters’ votes will be added to the selections of a Premier League panel to determine the victory, and you can vote for Mikel now until midday on Monday, October 7.

While you're at it, you can also help Gabriel win the Player of the Month, and don't forget to cast your selection in our club award.
