Team news: Four changes, Sterling starts the derby

Raheem Sterling playing for Arsenal

Ahead of tonight’s north London derby, Mikel Arteta has made four changes to his side from Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Manchester United, with Raheem Sterling handed his third league start.

The winger comes into our attack alongside Leandro Trossard as Mikel Arteta shuffles his pack, with Gabriel Martinelli dropping to the bench and Gabriel Jesus missing out, who sustained an ACL injury on the weekend and is set for surgery.

Declan Rice and Thomas Partey are also back in our midfield, with Jorginho and Mikel Merino among the replacements. That means our defence remains the same, with Riccardo Calafiori still not ready to return after missing out on the Red Devils game through injury.

Having made six changes to his team for their FA Cup extra-time win against Tamworth, Ange Postecoglu has made five more for tonight’s game.

Big-name attackers Son-Heung min, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke all return after being benched for the trip to the non-league side, with Brennan Johnson and Mikey Moore losing their spots and Timo Werner dropping out of the matchday squad after picking up a hamstring injury.

Having captained the side at Tamworth, James Maddison is dropped with Lucas Bergvall preferred in midfield, while Djed Spence replaces Sergio Reguilon at left-back.

Richarlison returns from two months out with a hamstring injury to be included as a substitute.
