Ahead of his 100th appearance for us, Leandro Trossard has been looking back on his first two years at the club.
Leo arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion on January 20, 2023, and has frequently impacted games with important goals and assists.
Speaking in his pre-Dinamo Zagreb press conference at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Tuesday, our Belgian forward couldn’t believe two years had passed.
“It’s been so quick already, time flies,” he said. “I’m really happy with it, to make the mark in tomorrow’s game. I’ve had such a great time already and hopefully in the next amount of time, I will have the same amount of impact and hopefully by winning something.
“I want to be important every single time. Obviously now it will look a bit different from the outside because of the injuries, but I want to help the team moving forward, in terms of winning games. That’s my approach.
“When you play a lot of games, you get physically better. You adapt more and that helps you in a way.
“I’m really happy here and I still want to win things here. I think we have a great squad, a great team with a manager who pushes us every day to achieve great things. We need to evaluate every single season.”
Leo was also asked about the introduction of academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly to the left side of the pitch, and how quickly he’s been able to settle in.
“I think he has shown his qualities over the past few weeks to everyone,” Leo said. “We have seen it already over the past months that he had the capability of doing that and now he is showing it on the big stage.
“He’s such a good player, so strong as well for his age, it’s unbelievable and also down to earth and that’s also one of his biggest qualities. He is also the same as Ethan [Nwaneri], a bright future ahead of him and I’m really pleased for those two.
“I think, as I said before, he’s really down to earth and he knows what he’s dealing with.
“He’s a class player and as I said, the more games he will play, the better he will get I think.”
