Alex Iwobi was left singing Dan Crowley’s praises after the talented midfielder scored a hat-trick in Arsenal Under-19s’ 4-3 loss against Anderlecht.
Crowley took home the match ball after netting his third, fourth and fifth goals of the campaign as the Gunners slipped to their first Youth League defeat this season.
Captain Iwobi was not pleased with his side’s performance but singled out the goalscorer as the biggest positive of a disappointing evening.
"We were actually really good in the second half. I’m confident we will still go through"
“Dan was unreal today,” Iwobi told Arsenal.com. “Hats off to him - he played very well. Unfortunately we couldn’t win but we just have to make sure we take his performance into the next game as a team.
“It was hard to get back into the game after conceding a penalty so early on but we managed it. Then we gave them a two-goal cushion and they sat back so it was really difficult to win.
“As a team we need to defend properly and be mentally prepared but the positive was that we were actually really good in the second half. I’m confident we will still go through.”
