Arsenal Football Club held a mini tournament for its supporters’ clubs on the new Community Hub’s 3G pitch.
The teams were placed in either Group Bastin, containing Hungary (A), Poland, Herts & Beds and America, or Group Drake, which was made up of Hungary (B), Maidstone, Hub All Stars and London.
Herts & Beds topped Group Bastin after beating America 409, Hungary (A) 1-0 and Poland 1-0. Poland were runners up after winning 3-0 against both Hungary and America.
London finished top of Group Drake following victories over Maidstone and Hungary, while Maidstone qualified for the knock-out stage on goal difference after the Hub All Stars slipped to defeat against Hungary.
Herts & Beds reached the final with a narrow 1-0 win against Maidstone, where they met London who had seen off Poland in an 11-10 penalty shoot-out victory following a 0-0 draw.
Both sides had plenty of opportunities to win but eventually London took the game by the scruff of its neck and won the final 3-1. We hope to run these mini tournaments before certain games and will be looking for other clubs to take part. If your club would be interested in putting a team out let us know and we can add you to our list for the future.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the players and supporters who helped to make the event such a success, and to the staff at the Hub for making us feel so welcome.
