When Arsene Wenger dipped into the transfer market 12 months ago to sign Mohamed Elneny, not many Arsenal fans knew much about the midfielder.
A year on and the Egypt international has proven himself to be a key member of the squad, impressing his manager with both his physical qualities and his attitude.
“I’m very delighted with Elneny,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “First of all he’s a guy who contributes a lot to the collective quality of the team.
“He defends well, he attacks well and he’s a continuity player who puts oil in the engine. He’s a pleasure to work with on a daily basis.
“He’s a big advert for Egypt because he’s humble, he’s willing to do well, he has a helpful attitude… he’s a fantastic boy and a great asset for us.”
