David Ospina and Danny Welbeck both played their final World Cup group-stage games on Thursday. Scroll down to find out how they got on:
Ospina kept a clean sheet against Senegal to help Colombia qualify for the last 16 as winners of Group H. After a goalless first half, Yerry Mina met Juan Quintero’s corner with a towering header to give Colombia a deserved lead.
Senegal threw bodies forward in a desperate bid to equalise and had a big chance when Ismaila Sarr collected the ball in the box, but Ospina produced a fine reaction stop to preserve his clean sheet and secure Colombia’s place in the knockout stage.
Later that day, Danny Welbeck played the final 11 minutes as England booked their spot in the last 16 despite losing to Group G winners Belgium.
In the end it took a sublime strike from Adnan Januzaj to break the deadlock, as Gareth Southgate’s side fell to their first defeat in Russia. Welbeck did have one opportunity to equalise late on, but his left-footed strike was cleared from underneath Belgium’s crossbar.
