A five-goal second-half salvo from Arsenal Ladies saw off Bristol
Academy on Sunday.
The win leaves Vic Akers' side just three points shy of
leaders Charlton Athletic at the top of the table.
The 5-1 scoreline was emphatic in the end but Arsenal were made
to wait until the start of the second half to take the lead as the
wintry conditions produced an icy playing surface.
Scotland captain Julie Fleeting notched a quick-fire brace to
put the hosts firmly in charge.
Then the visitors showed great character to haul themselves back
into the game with a goal just three minutes after Arsenal's
second.
But Arsenal wrapped up the win with further strikes by Jayne
Ludlow, Kelly Smith and Lianne Sanderson in the final 25
minutes.
