WHAT HAPPENED
Our Premier League Cup run came to an end as we suffered a late 1-0 loss against Brentford B.
Playing at the home of Sutton United, our young Gunners battled well throughout the first half but never managed to test the hands of Matthew Cox in the opposition goal.
However, we showed our defensive prowess with Hubert Graczyk making a couple of important stops and Zach Awe came to the rescue with a vital block to deny the hosts.
Just before the break, Graczyk made another stunning save from close-range to thwart the home side’s attempts at opening the scoring.
We started much brighter after the restart and had a chance early on, but Joel Ideho fired his effort over the bar.
The Bees had a goal disallowed for offside shortly before Mauro Bandeira and Ben Cottrell flashed their respective free-kicks just shy of the Brentford B rearguard.
Omari Benjamin had a golden opportunity to score when Cox slipped on the ball but the Arsenal forward’s touch was too heavy and the home side got away without any further punishment.
However, the west Londoners booked their place in the Premier League Cup semi-finals when Alex Gilbert converted his injury-time penalty kick.
WHAT IT MEANS
We exit Premier League Cup at the quarter-final stage.
