It’s becoming something of a trademark for Eddie Nketiah, chasing down the goalkeeper in possession and never giving up on a seemingly lost cause.
And after just five minutes on Sunday he got his reward, disposing Illan Meslier to open the scoring.
“I’ve probably done that about fifty or sixty times this season and probably don’t get there,” he said afterwards.
“But that’s what I do. I try to push, you know the manager encourages us to play a high press and it’s nice when you get a reward like that today.”
Within ten minutes the former Leeds loanee had doubled his tally, with a crisp finish from Gabriel Martinelli’s low cross, for his ninth of the season.
“It was really good skill from Gabi and great cut-back,” Eddie added. “It was a good finish on my left foot from me. So like I said it was a good start and I think it set us up well for the game.”
